International Telecommunications Union (ITU)

The International Telecommunications Union or ITU is an agency of the UN that has three main areas of focus:

  • ITU-R co-ordinates the global management of radio-frequency spectrum and satellite orbits;
  •  ITU-T sets international technical and interoperability standards; and
  • ITU-D assists developing countries and seeks to narrow the digital divide.
